Pastoral Development at FLTE
For nearly 60 years, the Faculty of Free Evangelical Theology (FLTE) has served as a cornerstone of French-speaking evangelical theological education. Founded by 12 Protestant church unions, FLTE has trained thousands of pastors and theological leaders, creating a lasting impact from Europe to Africa.
Its university-level theological education has revolutionized pastoral preparation across denominational lines—Baptist, Methodist, and Pentecostal leaders, in pursuit of theological excellence and providing a safe space for theological dialogue and debate within the Protestant evangelical French-speaking world.
At the same time, the evangelical movement is growing very fast in France, and so are its needs, namely:
• 1,000 new pastors needed over the next decade (source: National Council of French Evangelicals – CNEF)
• Hundreds of local churches, ministries, and organizations operating without theologically trained leadership
To meet these needs, the FLTE needs to adapt and grow, not just responding to this harvest but pioneering the future of pastoral education.
For these reasons, the FLTE has been working on:
- Creating new programs to train more Christian leaders
- Developing more online studies
- New partnerships with other Christian organisations and training institutions
- Building new spaces: a bigger library and research center where the invaluable French Evangelical Federation archives will be preserved, and more spaces to welcome twice as many students as before.
Please pray for the Faculty to be led and strengthened by God in all of these areas of growth!
